New Lords of Shadow Titan Revealed!
About five hours ago Twitter user KmartGamer announced, that MyKmart Blog used screenshots of never before seen Titan from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow in the preview of the game! You can check them out also in CastleKeeper's Gallery now, but don't forget to visit also MyKmart Blog and read about their pre-order bonus.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Quote from the preview: "We are pleased that Konami has been able to show us an exclusive look at a powerful Titan that has not yet been seen before, the Stone Titan featured below. Notice that the runes on the enemy seem to be the focal point on how you bring these leviathans to the ground. In a short caption provided by Konami, these Titans are the last remnant of an ancient civilization."

CastleKeeper's Fifth Anniversary
That's right, CastleKeeper's Chronicles - The World of Castlevania was opened on 1st of June 2005. Those five years were full of challenges and exciting moments, many fails and successes, and was also an unforgettable experience. This year was especially challenging - I decided to finally start working on the site in both English and Polish, trying to reach even wider audience.

Yesterday I finally added English version of the menu (images have been created by SenTineL, thank you!) and Clock Tower section, with both timelines (by releases and chronological) and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow section. I've also deleted the list of translated articles (with active menu it isn't needed any more), moved Castlevania - The Concert's Report from Gallery to Library and repaired anty-spam system in news' comments (you just need to add "CK" to the code before posting a comment, that's all).

This anniversary is like a new start for the site - it's now accessible for Castlevania fans from all over the world. Still with many plans and ideas, I hope it will grow even bigger during this next, sixth year of development - there's still a lot more work to do. Thank you all for your support and visiting CastleKeeper's Chronicles!

Castlevania Pachi-Slot Strikes Again
Have you heard about Castlevania Pachi-Slot gambling game? The Japanese love this kind of games and it looks like this one is also quite popular in the Land of the Rising Sun because Konami will reveal more information about second part soon. At the official site you'll find a counter with thirteen days left (thank you Nagumo and Reinhart77 for information on Dungeon's forum). It's a nice thing to have something to wait for, even if most of us won't be able to play the game.

But I have a little surprise for you, especially if you haven't hard about the Castlevania Pachi-Slot yet. I added twelve new wallpapers to CastleKeeper's Vault yesterday, all available in three resolutions. It's also a chance to see that most characters in the game are actually from Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.

CastleKeeper on Twitter and YouTube
Some of you probably already noticed two new icons at the top of the website since yesterday. Yes, CastleKeeper is now on Twitter and YouTube! Actually, these accounts exist for about one week already, I just haven't mentioned about them on CK earlier. Yesterday I added four new trailers on YouTube - two from Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia and two from Castlevania: Judgment (two from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow were there since the beginning). I'll do my best to upload something interesting there once in a while. Enjoy!

Second Harmony?
First of all, I'm sorry for writing about it after so long time - news has few days already. According to Konami has trademarked title "Harmony of Despair" in Europe. It sounds too much Castlevania-like to be a coincidence, so fans already speculate about platform the game will be released on. Maybe it'll be one of launch titles for 3DS - successor of Nintendo DS, which is going to be shown during this year's E3? Please remember that's just a rumour, though.

Looking back at Konami Gamers Night
One week ago, at Konami Gamers Night, journalists from all over the world had got a chance to see few minutes long video material about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I've written about it in previous news, but now it's time for some more previews based on the mentioned event. You'll also find some interesting facts noted down below.
  • You can find a short genesis of the game in the article.
  • Main character's eyes were brown at the beginning, now they're blue.
  • "A third of the score includes classic tunes that long-time fans will immediately recognize."
  • Combos and abilities can be upgraded with experience points gained by killing monsters.
  • Player will need to dodge and counter during fights to succeed.
  • One of the Easter Eggs in the game is so-called Konami Code. In LoS it will show, above enemies' heads, how many experience points they give us.
  • It's the end of tiring backtracking - we will return to previous locations via menu.
  • It looks like the clock tower will still be the essence of platform elements in the game.
  • There won't be any QTE sequences in the game probably! That means no more pushing various buttons in short period of time during action scenes.
  • Gabriel will be able to use two kinds of magic - Light and Shadow one. First one can be used e.g. for healing and second one - for boosting our strength. We will upgrade both kinds of magic using orbs dropped by enemies.
  • There will be three title Lords of Shadow in the game. They'll need to be defeated in order to gain pieces of God Mask, which is said to bring dead back to life. Don't forget that Gabriel's wife has been killed by monsters and hope for resurrecting her will drive him. Her soul will guide him during his quest.
  • Enemies will be darker and more aggressive than in previous Castlevania games. Good example is the Evil Butcher - monster with cleaver in hand and "slabs of meat hanging off hooks on his belt".

GamePro (video)
  • Game will contain 50 various stages, which will give us about 15-20 hours of gameplay (for good players). (preview + video)
  • Puzzles will contain (well known in action games) buttons and playing with mirrors and light. They probably won't entertain us for long but will vary the gameplay a little. (video)
  • Zobek will fight with us in some places, controlled by AI. I'm guessing he'll be also the second playable character.
  • There will be four Sub-Weapons but we know about knives and holy water for now. We'll be able to upgrade them.

Information about LoS press video
Do you want to know what exactly press saw during few minutes long video from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow during Konami Gamers Night? Of course you want, that's why you should check out preview at Below I quoted some interesting facts:

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

  • “What struck me more than how beautifully rendered the environments were was the tremendous diversity of the scenes.”
  • “(...) the finished game will feature 50 levels through which protagonist Gabriel Belmont must fight his way to the iconic castle.”
  • It looks like Zobek, voiced by Patrick Stewart, is Gabriel's mentor.
  • “Gabriel's (...) wife (...) has been killed (along with many others) by the creatures set free by an evil sorcerer.”
  • “At different points, Gabriel was shown riding a horse and a giant eagle.”
  • “The action looked smooth and stylish, with Gabriel performing moves that would look right at home in Soul Calibur -- he's clearly not just a re-skinned Kratos.”
  • “Cox (...) told me that while some areas in the game will be linear, others will "open up" for exploration.”
  • “Cox debuted the "titans," massive enemies that Gabriel will face several times during the adventure, each one larger than the last.”
  • “The footage wound down with quick shots of various important characters, including series regulars like Death. There was one very noteworthy omission, however: Dracula.”
  • There was also a little funny surprise for Metal Gear Solid fans in the conclusion of the video - please read the full preview to learn more. ;)
  • “Konami plans to have the first publicly playable version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow at E3 this June. After last night, it's at the very top of my "must play" list.”

As we can learn from Dave Cox's Twitter, fans won't be able to see mentioned video (yet?) but “we are working on some video blogs that will show lots of stuff”, he answered to danorganplayer's question. Also, there won't be support for PlayStation Move in the game.

Finally, I've made last update in the Screenshots Gallery today - I've added picture which was originally published on 24.09.2009 at I hope you like it - now CastleKeeper's Gallery contains probably most of all released Lords of Shadow screenshots.
